Vedic astrology — Jyotish — is a precise system refined over thousands of years in India. It offers deep insight into karma, dharma, timing, and spiritual growth.
Sidereal vs tropical
Section titled “Sidereal vs tropical”Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac (season-based). Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, aligned with actual star positions. Because of precession, your Vedic sun sign may differ from your Western one — and that difference often reveals layers Western charts miss.
Moon-centric approach
Section titled “Moon-centric approach”While Western pop astrology emphasizes the sun sign, Jyotish prioritizes:
- Moon sign (Rashi) — mind and emotions
- Nakshatra — finer lunar subdivision
- Lagna — how you engage the world
The 27 nakshatras
Section titled “The 27 nakshatras”Nakshatras are lunar mansions used for:
- Personality and temperament
- Compatibility (especially for marriage)
- Muhurat — choosing auspicious moments
- Spiritual and karmic themes

Dashas and timing
Section titled “Dashas and timing”Vedic astrology uses dasha systems (notably Vimshottari) to map life periods ruled by specific planets. Combined with transits (gochara), this makes Jyotish especially strong for timing — when to act, when to wait.
