Section titled “Defined Centers (You)”When a center is defined, you have consistent, reliable energy there. You’re steady and self-generating in that area.
You don’t need others for this energy.
You can be on a desert island and still have it. It’s part of your operating system.
Undefined Centers (Openness)
Section titled “Undefined Centers (Openness)”When a center is undefined, you’re open to others’ energy there. You pick up, absorb, and are influenced by others.
This isn’t weakness. It’s your sensitivity and adaptability.
You’re a mirror for others. You can understand different perspectives because you absorb them.
But you must discern: What’s mine and what am I absorbing?
Common Patterns

Mostly undefined: You’re very open and adaptable. You’re highly influenced by your environment.

Head and Ajna defined, Throat undefined: You have ideas and thinking, but expressing them is variable.
Solar Plexus undefined, Sacral defined: You know what excites you, but your emotions are unclear.
Using Your Centers
Section titled “Using Your Centers”Defined centers: Lean on these. Trust them. They’re your strengths.
Undefined centers: Be aware you’re absorbing others’ energy. Discern what’s yours.
All centers matter: Even undefined centers are part of your design. They’re your vulnerabilities and sensitivities, not flaws.
Example: Undefined solar plexus doesn’t mean you’re emotionally broken. It means your emotions are meant to be variable, responsive to your environment. It’s part of your design.
Learning Your Centers
Section titled “Learning Your Centers”Your Human Design chart shows which centers are defined (colored in) and which are undefined (white).
