Transits: How Current Planets Affect You

A transit is when a planet in the current sky makes an aspect to a planet in your birth chart. This creates temporary energy shifts that affect your life.

Transits answer the question: “What’s happening in my life right now, astrologically?”

Planets move through the sky continuously. When a current planet makes an aspect to one of your birth chart planets, you feel it.

Saturn transiting your Sun: You’re learning responsibility and maturity. Challenges, but growth.

Jupiter transiting your 7th house: Luck in relationships. New partnerships possible.

Venus transiting your Moon: Your emotions feel more at ease. Good time for self-care and relationships.

Transits last anywhere from a few days (Moon transits) to several years (Saturn transits).

Saturn Return (around age 29-30): Saturn returns to where it was at your birth. Major life transition. Everything matures and changes.

Uranus opposition Uranus (around age 42): Uranus is opposite where it was at birth. Sudden need for change and freedom.

Jupiter Return (every 12 years): Jupiter returns to its birth position. Luck and expansion. New 12-year cycle begins.

Saturn-Uranus cycle: About 45 years. Long-term rhythm of restriction and liberation alternating.

When a transiting planet aspects your birth planet:

Harmonious aspect (trine, sextile): The energy flows. Easy. Opportunities present themselves.

Challenging aspect (square, opposition): Tension. You have to work or navigate difficulty.

Conjunction: Activation. The planet’s energy is strongest.

Saturn to your Sun, Moon, or personal planets: Serious, challenging period. Maturation required. Lasts about 2-3 years in orb.

Jupiter to your Sun, Moon, or personal planets: Lucky, expanding period. Growth and opportunity. Lasts about 1-2 years.

Pluto to your Sun or Moon: Intense transformation. Old self must die; new self emerges. Lasts 2-3 years.

Uranus to any personal planet: Sudden change. Break from the old. Unexpected events. Lasts 1-2 years.

Neptune to personal planets: Confusion or spirituality. Boundaries dissolve. Dreams and illusions active. Lasts 2-3 years.

Mercury retrograde happens about 3 times a year, lasting roughly 3 weeks each time. Communication, technology, and contracts get confused.

Don’t sign major contracts or start important projects during Mercury retrograde.

But use it for reviewing and revisiting (re-thinking, re-examining).

Venus retrograde happens every 18 months for about 6 weeks. Relationships get confused or reevaluated.

Don’t start new relationships or make big relationship decisions during Venus retrograde.

But use it to reassess what you really want in relationships.

Mars retrograde happens every 2 years for about 2-3 months. Your drive and motivation feel unclear.

Don’t push hard or start aggressive projects during Mars retrograde.

But use it to reassess what you really want to pursue.

Identify major transits. Which planets are affecting your chart right now?

Understand the message. Is Saturn teaching you discipline? Is Jupiter bringing luck? Is Uranus demanding change?

Work with the energy. Don’t fight it. If Saturn’s there, accept the lesson. If Jupiter’s there, embrace the luck.

Plan accordingly. Don’t start new ventures during Saturn challenges. Do start during Jupiter luck.

Starting a business? Wait for Jupiter luck or until Saturn’s not in your 10th house.

Starting a relationship? Avoid Venus retrograde or Mercury retrograde.

Moving? Good during Jupiter transits, challenging during Saturn or Pluto.

Asking for a raise? Good during Mars or Jupiter, challenging during Saturn.

Timing matters. Use astrology to choose the best moment.

Transits show timing and themes. They don’t determine outcomes. You have free will.

A challenging Saturn transit doesn’t mean disaster—it means growth through challenge. A lucky Jupiter transit doesn’t mean you sit back—it means opportunities are available if you act.

Use transits as guidance, not fate.
