The Twelve Rasis: Signs of Vedic Astrology
The twelve Rasis (zodiac signs) are the colors through which each planet expresses itself. A planet in Aries is bold and pioneering. The same planet in Cancer is nurturing and protective. The sign modifies the planet’s essential nature.

Using Rasi Knowledge
Section titled “Using Rasi Knowledge”When you have a planet in a Rasi, blend the planet’s meaning with the Rasi’s character:
- Sun in Capricorn = Your life purpose (Sun) involves discipline, mastery, and achieving through effort (Capricorn).
- Venus in Scorpio = Your romantic nature (Venus) is intense, secretive, and psychologically deep (Scorpio).
- Jupiter in Pisces = Your luck and wisdom (Jupiter) come through spirituality, intuition, and surrender (Pisces).
Common Misconceptions
Section titled “Common Misconceptions”“My Rasi is the same as my Sun sign.” Only if you were born in late summer and your astrologer uses Vedic sidereal reckoning. Otherwise, your Rasi and Western Sun sign are often different due to precession.
“All Taurus people are stubborn.” Taurus energy is stubborn, but your full chart modifies this. A Taurus Sun with a Gemini Moon is less stubborn than a fixed Taurus Lagna.
“Fire signs are hot-headed.” They have fire energy, which can express as passion, courage, or anger depending on other planetary placements and life experience.
